Our Story
A kaleidoscope is a tube of mirrors containing colored pieces of glass in a chamber at the end farthest from the viewer’s eye. Rotation of this chamber causes motion resulting in an ever-changing pattern. The kaleidoscope was invented by a Scotsman, David Brewster, who derived the name from three ancient Greek words, which loosely translate as “observation of beautiful forms.”
So what’s the connection between a kaleidoscope and the name of this website: Collide-a-Scope?
The obvious answer is that the name is a pun and it’s all Greek to us.
But that’s all too simplistic because the “us” in this case actually represents the diverse backgrounds of the two founders.
One is an American who has lived on both coasts but “did time in Detroit” and has spent his entire life immersed in the world of the automobile.
The other grew up in China, moved to overseas and decided to contribute to the world communication for film marketing.
World’s colliding? That’s us.
The kaleidoscope analogy has a deeper meaning reflected in “an ever-changing view” of the world we live in. The pace of change in the world today is no longer linear: It’s exponential. We would be obsolete in eight years if we didn’t continue data education. Today, those eight years have been compressed to about eight months.
