One day in Yokohama
My first visit to Yokohama is much more than I expected. My two friends, John from America, and Kenny from Denmark with me arrived at Yokohama station, and we went to Takashimaya to spend time checking out all the different departments spread across the six floors. We were attracted by the skills of Japanese artists who had crafted combs, knifes, and, yes, even massage chairs.
We decided to have lunch in next Stop - Sakuragi Station. When we came to Sakuragi, we found a good restaurant to have Japanese complete meal including fried fish, Fried Chicken, vegetables, Lunch and soup. In the restaurant, we observed Squids were swimming in the pool.
Next, we went to Zoo actually earlier than the World Port. As below is the picture shot in front of the Zoo, but you can clearly watched Yokohama in Japanese, but it is 3 minutes walk from the Zoo.
We spent most time in World Port in Sakuragi. From the first sight, we saw the Japanese ship, and YOKOHAMA COSMOWORLD, which is an amusement park famous for its prominent image on the Yokohama skyline. We three took a log flume ride which dived down a steep mountain ending in a pool and getting very wet in the process. It was great fun! I think I appreciated to have such an experience with friends together, since I won't dare to try it alone, and my friends gave me courage, and it is really give you some experience for diving, any kind of diving I think. I also imagine the Parachute sport, and I think I can feel some similar with it.
Finally, we went to the China's town. We ate "Xiao Longbao"- small steamed bun, and then went to see wonderful Hanabi.
Yokohama is wonderful not because it is famous for ocean port, or entertainment, in my opinion, I think it makes people want to go back again because it included a lot of western or Chinese culture content, and foreign genre. Previously I watched a TV show "平清盛". One of the episode told the Edo period in Yokohama, and I remembered it showed western daughters with their father living in Yokohama. This time I came to Yokohama with my friends together, and I recognized the scene is true for Yokohama style. When you come to Yokohama, You must get into pondering with the history that how western civilization had been introduced into Japanese society from 500 hundreds years ago, and the channel is Yokohama.
